How to Cancel an Event?

Below is a clear breakdown of your options depending on whether you’ve received applications.

If You Need to Cancel an Event (With Applications)

If your event has received applications, it cannot be deleted, but it can be deactivated.


Step 1: Cancel or Deny All Applications

Before we can deactivate your event, you must first resolve all applications.

  • Approved applicants must be cancelled
  • Pending or Waitlisted applications must be denied


This is an important step because you’ll need to determine:

  • Whether refunds are required
  • The refund amount (if applicable)
  • How you want to communicate the cancellation to your vendors


Make sure all application statuses are updated before proceeding.



Step 2: Request Event Deactivation

Once all applications have been addressed:

Send an email to [support@boothcentral.com]() requesting that your event be deactivated.

Our team will deactivate the event within 24 hours.

Why Can’t I Fully Delete the Event?

If your event has received applications, deletion is disabled to preserve historical records.


This ensures that:

  • Vendor contact information remains accessible
  • Payment records are retained
  • Refund details can be referenced in the future
  • Reporting data is not permanently lost


For compliance and record-keeping purposes, events with transaction history must remain in the system.

How to Delete an Event (No Applications Received)

If your event has not received any applications, you can fully delete it.


Follow these steps:

Step 1: Unpublish the Event

  1. Open your event.
  2. Go to Edit Event.
  3. In the upper right corner, click the Published Event dropdown menu.
  4. Select Unpublish Event.

Step 2: Delete the Event


  1. Go to My Dashboard > My Events.
  2. Locate the event.
  3. Click the three dots on the right side.
  4. Select Delete from the dropdown menu.


Deleting your Event

Once deleted, the event cannot be restored.
